Jr High Trivia

I was pumped up on radio and electronics and built a bunch of electronics stuff.

This photo (bad one) is from the Houston Science Fair where I won Honorable Mention.

Movies were a particular treat. There were at least four single screen theaters and three drive-in movies in Beaumont.

Holiday traditions included meals with our extended family. We were closest to my mom’s sister and her family. We lived one house apart so we almost always celebrated Thanksgiving and Christmas with them. Turkey and dressing and my mom’s world class pies.

My mom made awesome shrimp gumbo, chicken and spaghetti and red beans and rice.

She also made great, spectacular, tasty, delicious pies and candy.

Clothes were not a big thing for me. The marketing people had not started marketing clothes to teens so there was no need to have the latest style. I just wore what was selling in the department stores.

This is probably how I looked in the 8th grade with my hair cut in a flattop.
