Jan Mickle (Holloway)

Interestingly enough there was a second polio survivor in my immediate circle of friends. I met Jan Mickle in junior high and she also wore a brace on one leg. She lived in Horn Addition just around the corner from me. We dated a couple of times in high school.

We reconnected in college while I was at Rice and she at U of H. Through me she met Bob Holloway, one of my many roommates. She and Bob got married the day after Kathy and I did.

We maintained sporadic contact throughout the years. She died in the mid-2000’s of a aggressive ovarian cancer. I spoke at her memorial service.
