The rest of the drive was mostly uneventful..Kathy and I talked a lot. We were tired so I told her all of the jokes I knew trying to keep us awake.

The house in Clayton, Missouri, was in a restricted neighborhood and was enormous by my standards. My future in-laws had purchased a very nice property on a large plot of land. The multistory house was very spacious and classy in keeping with Art and Betty’s style. The multicar garage was great. I was a little taken aback.
