First Apartment

Steve Treadwell and I had initially moved into this second floor, one bedroom, carpeted, air conditioned (!) apartment at the end of the summer of 1967. When Kathy and I decided to get married, Steve agreed, graciously, to move out and let us have the apartment. Our rent was an astounding $72.50/mo.

There were six units in the building. Next door to us were Jim Thelin, with whom I worked at the Houston Speech and Hearing Center, and Don Smith. They turned out to be really good friends and very supportive of the young couple.
