We were married in the Rice Chapel on campus by the university chaplain, Kenneth Vaux. Thanksgiving fell on our wedding day the year.

To my right is Carolyn Klumb, Kathy’s maid of honor. She was Kathy’s roommate who more than a year earlier had prompted the trip to Houston where I met Kathy for the first time and got the ball rolling.

Tim Lucas, Kathy’s brother and my best man is to Kathy’s left. Rev Kenneth Vaux is on the far right. He actually attempted a little pre-marital counseling which we were way too smart to accept. If only we’d had the same level of counseling that we later provided to Mercy Ships couples…
